CommuKNITy Cares

CommuKNITy Cares is an outreach ministry that shares God’s love for others by making hand knit mittens, hats and blankets and giving them to those in need in the community. Fellowship is also shared with members of the community through free knitting classes and groups offered at the Salvation Army Glenmore Temple Community Church in Calgary, Alberta.

The concept of the CommuKNITy Cares ministry originated with the 2017 Salvation Army Toy Hamper program. An obvious physical need for warm mittens was evident, and a need for a caring community was also apparent. As a result, a group of people banned together to ensure that as many children as possible received a gift of warmth and love by providing them with hand knit mittens along with their special Christmas toys. The joy that was seen in their eyes and the appreciation expressed by their parents encouraged us to continue this program!

Community Food Bank

Our church food bank is here to support individuals and families in need within our community. We provide nutritious groceries, essentials, and a helping hand with dignity and care. Everyone is welcome—no questions asked. Together, we can ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.

Community Movie Night

Glenmore Temple occasionally hosts a Community Movie Night. This is a great opportunity to get out with your family and friends and enjoy a wonderful cinematic event at the church. Located at the church parking lot – weather permitting. Please check our calendar below for dates!

Seasonal

The Salvation Army, Glenmore Temple, assists the broader Salvation Army in the city of Calgary in various capacities throughout the year. This page highlights some of the activities Glenmore Temple has helped with!

Glenmore Temple assists in the distribution of The Salvation Army Toy Hampers during the Christmas. The CommuKnity Cares program is actively involved , as they hand out a pair of hand knit mittens to each child that comes through our doors.

The Glenmore Temple Band also hosts Band Concerts 3 or 4 times through out the year. Watch the site for date announcements as the concerts are scheduled.
